Central Bank of Lesotho cyberattack triggers system suspensions and payment delays

The Central Bank of Lesotho disclosed a December 11, 2023 cybersecurity incident affecting several systems and said it suspended some systems to prevent further infiltration, warning that some payments could be delayed. A joint statement with the Bankers Association of Lesotho acknowledged National Payment System downtime that made interbank transactions temporarily impossible while alternatives were put in place.
