Ransomware shuts down Brazil’s STJ court network (2020)

On 03/11/2020, Brazil’s Superior Tribunal de Justiça suffered a RansomExx ransomware attack, forcing a shutdown of its IT network. Reports noted more than 1,200 servers were encrypted and backups destroyed, prompting suspension of judicial proceedings while systems were rebuilt and restored by mid-to-late November.
