Cyberattack on Nigeria Customs Service disrupts cargo clearance at ports

On 14/08/2025, Nigerian outlet Vanguard reported a cyberattack on the Nigeria Customs Service’s ICT platform that disrupted cargo clearance operations across ports nationwide. Licensed customs agents incurred demurrage on delayed consignments. NCS spokesman Maiwada Abdullahi confirmed the platform had been attacked, said it was restored and strengthened, and noted ongoing stakeholder discussions on possible relief for importers affected by the outage.
