Northern Caribbean University cyberattack cripples LMS and financial databases; data exposure warning issued

Around the weekend of 22–23 February 2025, Northern Caribbean University (Jamaica) disclosed a cyber security breach that left its Learning Management System inoperable and made the university’s website, student records, and finance databases inaccessible. The university warned current and former students that their personal data could potentially be exposed and reported the incident to national authorities while shifting teaching to alternative platforms, indicating significant service unavailability and business system disruption.
