Ecuador state telco CNT hit by RansomEXX; operations and portals disrupted

On 16/07/2021, Ecuador’s Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) disclosed a cyberattack that disrupted business operations, its payment portal, and customer support. CNT posted an alert that care processes in Integrated Service Centers and the Contact Center were affected and that customers would not be suspended for non‑payment. The Telecommunications Minister later confirmed the attack was by the RansomEXX family and an 'institutional emergency' was declared at the telco.
