Ransomware forces manual SCADA monitoring at Minot Water Treatment Plant

On 14 March 2026 ransomware affected a server supporting SCADA monitoring at the City of Minot Water Treatment Plant. Staff isolated the server and performed manual gauge checks for about 16 hours until replacement monitoring was available; water treatment, pressure, water quality and customer service remained operational.
