Large-scale DDoS attack disrupts Rostelecom and dependent Russian digital services

On 6 April 2026, Rostelecom confirmed a powerful distributed denial-of-service attack against its network. Mitigation and traffic filtering coincided with availability problems affecting connectivity and access to banking, government and other digital services across numerous Russian cities. The disruption was relatively short-lived, with the network reported back to normal later that evening, but the incident propagated beyond the telecom provider to dependent services.
