Cyberattack disrupts Nichirei cold-chain warehousing and food distribution across Japan

Nichirei confirmed unauthorized access and a cyberattack on 13 July 2026 and disconnected group systems to contain it. The shutdown disrupted refrigerated-warehouse receiving and dispatch and frozen-food shipping, with partial operations and order restrictions until normal operations resumed on 24 July. KFC Japan reported ingredient-delivery problems that caused shortages, menu restrictions, shortened hours and temporary suspension of some ordering and delivery services; RansomHouse later claimed responsibility, but Nichirei did not confirm ransomware.
