Cyberattack disables Uffizi Galleries administrative systems while visitor services remain operational

A cyberattack against the Uffizi Galleries between 31 January and 1 February 2026 disrupted administrative systems, leaving affected employees unable to use work computers or institutional email and interfering with back-office operations. Ticketing, visitor reception, surveillance and public access to the museum continued normally. Subsequent reporting stated that roughly twenty machines were compromised and that prosecutors investigated unauthorized access and attempted extortion. The documented TRACE impact is therefore a contained administrative operational disruption rather than disruption of the museum's public visitor services.
