Cyberattack suspends Senegal national identity card production

On 5 February 2026, Senegal's Direction de l'Automatisation des Fichiers announced that an incident affecting its systems had forced the temporary suspension of national identity card production while technical teams worked to restore service. Recorded Future News subsequently reported the event as a cyberattack. GREEN BLOOD GROUP claimed a ransomware breach and theft of government data, but the government's notice stated that citizens' personal-data integrity remained intact and did not confirm ransomware or exfiltration. The attack mechanism therefore remains unclassified, while the interruption of national ID-card production is directly documented.
