Radio Geretsried ransomware attack forces station onto emergency programming

Radio Geretsried reported that a cyberattack during the night of 15 September 2024 encrypted all of the station's music files and was accompanied by a ransom demand. The station remained on air but could only broadcast music from an emergency backup, materially degrading its normal broadcasting service. The station attributed the attackers broadly to the Russian region, but no specific threat actor was established.
