Fylde Coast Academy Trust ransomware disrupts teaching and school operations

Fylde Coast Academy Trust discovered a ransomware attack in September 2024 after users lost access to network resources and the Internet. The ransomware encrypted on-premises infrastructure, file servers and network-attached backups. The disruption affected learning resources for students, including approximately 1,500 pupils preparing for exams, and disabled cashless catering systems, requiring the Trust to feed pupils without processing normal payments. The Trust rebuilt network infrastructure and operated with limited resources during recovery.
