Richmond University Medical Center ransomware disrupts clinical workflows for weeks

Richmond University Medical Center discovered unauthorized access to its network in May 2023 during a cyberattack widely reported as ransomware. The incident forced network-downtime procedures and manual patient-data entry and monitoring; overnight trauma and stroke care were affected, and impacted services took several weeks to restore. Later investigation confirmed unauthorized access to or acquisition of files, while the hospital's electronic health record system was not affected.
