Texas Tech Health Sciences Center cyberattack disrupts clinical and academic operations

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center reported a September 2024 cybersecurity event that disrupted computer systems and applications and involved unauthorized access to or removal of files between September 17 and September 29. The resulting IT outage led to limited clinical operations, cancellation of academic operations, impaired patient-portal and fax communications, intermittent phone outages, and pharmacies operating at limited capacity for weeks. Interlock later claimed responsibility and described the event as ransomware, but TTUHSC did not publicly confirm that ransomware attribution.
