Conduent cyber incident disrupts multi-state child support payment processing

On 13 January 2025, Conduent detected unauthorized access and experienced an operational disruption. Recovery of affected systems took hours to days; the outage interrupted child-support payment processing in multiple U.S. states, including Wisconsin, while Pennsylvania reported about 121,000 families delayed from receiving roughly $27 million in scheduled payments. Conduent later confirmed exfiltration of client-associated files. This establishes the cyber-event → affected process → material operational consequence linkage required by TRACE.
