Cyber breach at Locata disrupts Greater Manchester council housing services

Locata Housing Services identified an IT security incident on 29 July 2024 affecting public-facing housing websites it operated for local authorities. Manchester, Salford and Bolton housing services were taken offline or suspended, interrupting residents' access to housing application and lettings services; thousands of users also received fraudulent phishing messages associated with the compromised services.
