LockBit ransomware disables Korneuburg municipal administration and funeral processing

Korneuburg's municipal IT department discovered a ransomware attack during the night of 05-06/02/2024 and shut down the entire municipal network. Administrative functions became unavailable, including creation of official decisions and accounting, while reporting documented an inability to produce registration forms, death certificates and transfer documents that resulted in funeral cancellations. The municipality later confirmed LockBit responsibility and reported safe normal operations from 23/02.
