SEIU Local 1000 cyberattack disrupts network and member-support operations

SEIU Local 1000 reported that an outside actor caused a network disruption on 18/01/2024 and encrypted data. The union had to restore network operations and reopen its member call center following the incident, although bargaining, grievances, hearings and other core representation work continued. LockBit later publicly claimed the attack, but the union did not confirm the attribution or characterize the incident itself as ransomware.
