Cyberattack on City of Columbus disrupts resident-facing services

The City of Columbus detected malicious activity on 18 July 2024 and severed internet connectivity to contain the intrusion, causing outages to some resident-facing IT services. Subsequent city updates said the attacker was RHYSIDA, that data was taken, and that many technology systems required staged restoration; critical functions such as 911, 311 and payroll remained operational.
