Grand Traverse County ransomware disrupts county and Traverse City government services

Grand Traverse County detected network irregularities on 12 June 2024 and took the shared county and City of Traverse City office network offline. Officials later identified the event as ransomware. The outage interrupted telephone and in-person government functions, affected court and administrative services, and prevented Traverse City from billing roughly half of its water and sewer customers during the June billing cycle. Public-safety operations continued.
