Christie's cyberattack disables main auction website and postpones Geneva sale

A cyberattack against CHRISTIE'S caused its principal website to be taken offline beginning around 09/05/2024 immediately before major international auctions. The outage prevented normal access to online auction information and forced the company to build an alternative web environment and rely on in-person, telephone, absentee and Christie’s Live bidding. The Rare Watches auction in Geneva was postponed by one day because of the incident. Christie’s later confirmed that attackers had also stolen client data; RANSOMHUB claimed responsibility, but the company's public statements did not independently confirm the group's claimed ransomware mechanism.
