Ransomware disrupts elective care at Centre Hospitalier Simone Veil de Cannes

A cyberattack detected on 16 April 2024 forced the hospital to isolate its network and switch to degraded paper-based procedures. Non-urgent consultations and operations were postponed, roughly one-third of scheduled non-urgent surgical procedures were cancelled during the first two days, and examination turnaround times lengthened, while emergency and other essential care continued. CERT Santé later documented use of LockBit ransomware after access through a compromised account.
