Hanover County Public Schools cyber incident disrupts district technology and instruction

Hanover County Public Schools experienced a March 2026 data-security incident that took its network and internet service offline, forcing instruction to continue without normal technology access. The district later determined that a malicious actor gained access to network data and attempted to deploy ransomware before the access was terminated. Internet and major instructional platforms were restored on March 18.
