Murray County ransomware closes and limits government offices

A ransomware attack against Murray County government disrupted the county network on May 13, 2026. The Tax Commissioner, Tax Assessor, Probate Court and Juvenile Court offices closed while other offices operated with limited functionality; 911, public safety and primary voting remained available. The county later disclosed a $200,000 payment intended to prevent publication of stolen information and reported that most computers had been restored.
