Ransomware disables Romania's e-Terra cadastral system

Romania's National Agency for Cadastre and Land Registration detected unauthorized access on 14 July 2026. Government investigation confirmed ransomware that encrypted and deleted part of the virtualization infrastructure hosting agency applications. The e-Terra cadastral and land-registration platform remained unavailable during restoration, interrupting real-estate and land-registry processing and creating a substantial backlog that ANCPI worked through after services resumed.
