MediMap cyberattack forces New Zealand healthcare providers onto manual medication processes

On 22/02/2026, unauthorized access to MediMap led the medication-management provider to take its platform offline across New Zealand. Some resident demographic and clinical-context information was modified, and healthcare organizations using the platform reverted to manual medication-management processes while prescribing, pharmacy dispensing and medication-administration workflows were restored. Health New Zealand and affected providers reported continuity of patient care through contingency procedures, while phased platform restoration began on 2 March.
