Cyberattack suspends administrative procedures at Spain's Ministry of Science

In early February 2026, a cyberattack affecting Spain's Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities led to the partial shutdown of ministry IT services. From 03/02/2026 the ministry officially suspended ongoing administrative procedures and extended affected deadlines while systems were investigated and restored. Main electronic-headquarters procedures were reported fully operational again on 13 February, although restoration of subsidiary electronic-office procedures continued progressively.
