Ransomware disables Yap health digital systems and slows care delivery
On 11 March 2025, the Yap Department of Health Services detected ransomware on its network and took the entire network offline. Internet connectivity, departmental email and digital health systems became unavailable, while healthcare services continued at reduced speed through disrupted workflows. The department was still rebuilding networks and electronic health systems on 20 March.
