Ransomware severely disrupts Fort St. John municipal services

The City of Fort St. John discovered unauthorized network access on 25 February 2025 and disconnected systems to contain the incident. Email, telephone, internal-network and other municipal functions were severely affected, with service capacity initially extremely limited. The city later confirmed ransomware, encryption of data and theft of a small subset of files; more than 75% of front-facing services had been restored by 6 March.
