At approximately 02:00 on 28 February 2025, the City of Mission, Texas suffered ransomware encryption of its primary servers and backup servers. The city became unable to access records including birth certificates, police reports, contracts and personnel files, affecting every department and hampering basic municipal functions. Essential response services remained operational while restoration proceeded.
