Cyberattack shuts La Vergne municipal systems and disrupts utility billing

The City of La Vergne detected a cybersecurity incident on 17 October 2025 and took network systems offline while the FBI and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation assisted. City offices closed during the initial response and later reopened with limited processes, while utility billing, online payments and automated payment functions remained materially disrupted for weeks. Public safety and water delivery themselves continued operating.
