Ransomware cripples Fasana production and contributes to insolvency

A ransomware-related cyberattack against German paper-napkin manufacturer Fasana rendered computers and other IT systems unusable, preventing normal production, invoicing and processing of new orders. Reporting described approximately two weeks with little meaningful revenue and roughly EUR 2 million in lost turnover before the company filed for insolvency. The operational consequences were existential, although sources disagree on whether the attack began on 19 or 21 May 2025.
