Cyberattack on City of Abilene disrupts municipal systems and forces SCADA isolation

The City of Abilene detected a cyberattack on April 18, 2025 after servers became unresponsive and took systems offline. Municipal payment functions and other services were degraded, and later city records state that the attack forced isolation of SCADA systems at water and wastewater facilities, loss of server access and temporary use of local controls while restoration proceeded.
