Town of Ulster ransomware disrupts municipal business systems and forces alternate processes

An unauthorized actor entered the Town of Ulster network on 10 September 2024 and deployed ransomware. The town disconnected its network and operated through alternate processes while restoring systems. Official records document disruption to accounting, payroll, tax-collection software, document systems and the Highway Department fueling system, with data-restoration problems continuing after the initial incident.
