LockBit ransomware cripples Saint-Nazaire municipal IT and public services

The City and Agglomeration of Saint-Nazaire suffered a large-scale cyberattack during the night of 9-10 April 2024. Servers, files and business applications became unavailable, preventing normal operation of municipal services and also affecting several municipalities sharing the infrastructure. Later forensic work identified the cryptovirus as LockBit, with one third of servers encrypted and the wider information system shut down for reconstruction.
