Panera ransomware attack disrupts digital ordering and payment systems

Panera Bread suffered a widespread IT outage beginning on 22 March 2024 that affected point-of-sale systems, phones, its website, mobile applications and loyalty services. Cafes remained open but digital ordering and electronic payment capabilities were disrupted for roughly a week. BleepingComputer reported that ransomware caused the outage based on people familiar with the matter and internal emails.
