Kadokawa ransomware attack disrupts publishing logistics, shipments and Niconico

KADOKAWA detected a large-scale cyberattack on 8 June 2024 after multiple data-center servers became inaccessible. The incident, which the company described as including ransomware, forced suspension of order-taking and logistics systems for its domestic printed-book business, reduced book shipments and took the Niconico digital service offline. The operational effects therefore extended from digital service delivery to physical publishing distribution.
