On 25/04/2024, a cyberattack caused Kansas City Scout operators to shut down the metropolitan traffic-management system. The website, traffic cameras and highway message boards became unavailable, although staff continued monitoring traffic through contingency processes. Real-time message boards did not return until 20/06/2024, and website and camera restoration occurred later as the Missouri and Kansas transportation departments conducted a phased recovery.
