Cyberattack on Topackt disrupts school IT networks across Rhineland-Palatinate

Attackers obtained unauthorized access to systems associated with Topackt IT Solutions during the night of 14-15 January 2025. Encryption malware reached school servers served through the provider's network, leading authorities to disconnect school networks as a containment measure. Approximately 45 schools in Rhineland-Palatinate were affected, producing significant disruption to school IT operations; later investigations also established unauthorized copying and publication of data.
