Ransomware forces OneBlood into manual blood processing and distribution

OneBlood was hit by ransomware on 29 July 2024, disrupting the critical software used to manage its blood supply. The organization switched to manual collection, testing, processing and distribution procedures, which reduced efficiency and particularly delayed labeling blood for release to hospitals. Supplemental blood and platelet shipments were required until normal distribution capacity was restored.
