Cannes hospital ransomware attack forces degraded operations and procedure postponements

The Centre Hospitalier de Cannes Simone Veil suffered a cyberattack on 16 April 2024. Cyber-containment cut all IT access and forced staff onto paper procedures, lengthening examination turnaround times and causing consultations and non-urgent procedures to be postponed. A later French health-sector incident review classified the event as ransomware. Sources indicate patient safety was maintained despite the operational disruption.
