SEIU Local 1000 cyberattack disrupts network and member call center operations

On January 18, 2024, SEIU Local 1000 experienced a malicious network intrusion that resulted in unauthorized encryption of organizational data and interrupted normal network operations. The union subsequently confirmed that it had worked to reopen its member call center and restore internal systems while continuing representation, bargaining and grievance activities through alternative arrangements. The incident materially degraded the organization's member-service infrastructure, although its principal labor representation work continued.
