Calvià municipal ransomware attack suspends administrative services and tax processing

During the early hours of January 13, 2024, the Ajuntament de Calvià suffered a ransomware attack subsequently linked by the municipality to LockBit 3.0. The intrusion exploited a vulnerability in municipal technology and disabled administrative systems needed for public services. The municipality suspended administrative submission deadlines through January 31, directed residents to the national government electronic registry for certain procedures and reported unavailable tax-management and revenue-collection services. Restoration proceeded in stages while telephone and in-person assistance continued operating.
