EquiLend ransomware attack disables securities lending trading and post-trade platforms

EquiLend detected unauthorized access on January 22, 2024, and subsequently confirmed a ransomware incident affecting portions of its securities finance technology infrastructure. Its Next Generation Trading platform, post-trade solutions, regulatory reporting and data analytics services became temporarily unavailable to financial-institution clients. The disruption directly impaired the delivery of securities lending technology services and supporting financial transaction workflows. EquiLend progressively restored its platforms and confirmed that all client-facing services were available by February 5. EquiLend Spire and the ECS Loan Market remained operational.
