Tietoevry Akira ransomware attack disrupts Swedish data center and downstream medical supply distribution

During the night of January 19-20, 2024, an Akira ransomware attack affected a Tietoevry data center platform in Sweden. Tietoevry isolated the affected infrastructure, but hosting and application services for multiple customers became unavailable. Medical supply distributor Mediq independently confirmed that the attack on its external data center provider disrupted customer ordering and delivery operations in Sweden, Norway and Finland. Mediq's platforms were restored by January 25-26, allowing teams to resume picking, packing and shipping outstanding orders. Other Tietoevry customers experienced differing restoration timelines.
