Cyberattack disrupts fuel dispensing at roughly 70% of Iranian filling stations

On 18 December 2023, a cyberattack on Iran's fuel distribution and smart-card dispensing environment disabled or degraded fuel dispensing at approximately 70% of filling stations nationwide. Manual dispensing was introduced and pumps were largely restored by 19 December, but many stations still could not process subsidized fuel cards. The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company oversaw the affected distribution network and recovery. Predatory Sparrow claimed responsibility; its claim is not independent proof of attribution.
