Cyberattack on Binghamstown/Drum water pumping controller interrupts household water supply in Ireland

Around 30 November 2023, attackers interfered with a programmable controller operating the Binghamstown/Drum private water scheme in County Mayo, Ireland. The compromised pumping controls interrupted water supply to approximately 160–180 households on Thursday and Friday before crews restored service. A pro-Iranian group using the name Cyber Av3ngers was identified on a message left on the affected equipment; the claimed authorship is not independently proven.
