Veolia North America ransomware attack disrupts municipal water customer billing systems

Veolia North America's Municipal Water division experienced a ransomware-related cybersecurity incident in January 2024. Following detection, the company disconnected targeted back-end systems and servers to contain the attack. These actions temporarily impaired online bill payment functionality and caused payment delays for some municipal water customers. Veolia restored the affected systems and indicated that water and wastewater treatment services continued operating without disruption.
