Ransomware attack on Gellyberry Studios destroys 17000 Ethyrial player accounts

On November 24, 2023, ransomware operators encrypted the main server and local backup storage used by Gellyberry Studios for its online role-playing game Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore. The attack destroyed access to approximately 17000 player accounts and their associated characters and game progress, forcing the developer to rebuild its account databases and organize manual restoration. Game-server availability resumed later that Friday, but restoration of players' prior data required additional work. The operational consequence was an interruption of the live digital service and extensive loss of customer account functionality, not merely exposure of personal information.
