Cyberattack on Quantum Radiology closes Sydney clinics and interrupts diagnostic imaging

On November 22, 2023, Quantum Radiology detected unauthorized access to its IT systems and encryption of stored files. The incident disrupted operations at the company's Sydney-area radiology clinics, which temporarily closed and cancelled patient appointments because they could not process examinations. Patients also lost access to medical scans and reports, contributing to delays in subsequent appointments with specialists and other healthcare providers. Quantum later confirmed that it recovered most encrypted information after decrypting its principal systems. Although the file-encryption mechanism is established, the available authoritative victim statement does not by itself demonstrate a ransom demand or identify a ransomware operator.
